Risking £50m of OUR money on setting up a bank - No Thank You!

Most residents, including those who traditionally vote Conservative, are astonished to hear the Tories running Essex County Council are taking £50m from the reserves and RISKING YOUR MONEY to set up the "Bank of Essex".

With this Labour government already paying fast and loose with our money to prop up the UK banking system, do you really want the Conservatives risking your money to set up a new bank here in Essex?

LIBERAL DEMOCRAT COUNTY COUNCILLORS SAY NO. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Surely £50m could be far better spent on:

- New Schools and Care Homes

- Improved public transport

- More facilities for the young and elderly

- Front line services

Cty Cllr David Kendall says:

"I believe it is wrong to risk £50m of your money on this project when the council can't even grit our roads and pavements in the winter"

Cty Cllr Barry Aspinell added:

"It's bad enough that there's £200m of OUR money sat in reserves but unbelieveable that this is how they chose to spend it when we don't have enough buses for our young and elderly"
