Essex Lib Dem MP in Brentwood

Colchester's Bob Russell MP was in Brentwood last night as guest speaker for the association's Annual Dinner.

Bob was impressed by the lively and friendly atmosphere that Brentwood & Ongar Liberal Democrats had created and motivated the team to fight often-absent MP Eric Pickles at the general election, which must be held in the next three months. He also told us about the charity parachute jump he had undertaken recently.

Cllr David Kendall, who is the only serious contender to the sitting MP in Brentwood & Ongar, said:

"It was a delight to welcome Bob and his wife Audrey to Brentwood. Despite what may be said about Essex being a Tory stronghold, he shows that Liberal Democrats can be elected in Essex and make excellent MPs. I hope that I get the opportunity to do the same.

"Bob has represented Colchester for almost forty years, first as a councillor, then as Mayor and as their MP since 1997. Brentwood & Ongar residents deserve an MP who is dedicated to them totally, rather than flying all around the country being Chairman of their party, as we have seen from Eric Pickles recently."
