County councillors raise concerns on Registry Office move7.50.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 23rd Jul 2009
County council plans to relocate registration services at Brentwood could lead to two charities being made homeless. Anchor Staying Put and Crossroads, which work with the elderly and vulnerable, will be given two months to quit if all Essex registration services are centralised there. Brentwood county councillors Barry Aspinell and David Kendall raised concerns about the future of the two groups. Cty Cllr Aspinell said: "These organisations do extremely good work for the borough's most needy people. "Anchor works with older people to retain their independence and keep them living in their own homes, and Crossroads assists carers." Cty Cllr Kendall stressed they were 'not against plans to modernise the service' but were 'worried' about the effect on the two organisations. Related Link:Read the Yellow Advertiser's story in full.
