At last night's full council meeting the Conservative administration used their vast majority to remove Cllr Barry Aspinell from his position as Chair of the Overview and Scrutiny Panel.

The situation arose due to a resident's complaint to the Standards Board. The matter is yet to be investigated or even come before the Standards Board but the Conservatives took this as an opportunity to take this unfair and unjust action.

As the party name suggests, Liberal Democrats believe in democracy and we will make a full statement once the matter is fully resolved.

Barry continues to work hard to serve the residents of Pilgrims Hatch as their borough and county councillor and the people of Brentwood North and Shenfield in his county capacity.
