Pedestrians and customers of the popular village store and post office in Pilgrims Hatch have been given a road safety boost.

A zebra crossing, installed on the busy A128 Ongar Road, was finally completed this week.

Local Lib Dem councillor Barry Aspinell said: "I and my colleagues have been campaigning and pressuring Essex County Council for many years to get this crossing. I am delighted that many residents will no longer have to play dodgems with their lives when calling at the post office."
